Semi truck overturns, closes Ohio 2 right lane

A truck rolled on Ohio 2 and Ohio 6 near the Sandusky exit Thursday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. “It was a semi heading east that lost control and overturned on to the roadway blocking both lanes,” highway patrol Lt. Brett Gocksetter said. At approximately 8 a.m., the truck, which carried ketchup, got onto the ramp for Ohio 2 from Ohio 6. The driver checked his mirrors to merge on to Ohio 2 when he lost track of the ramp because of glare on the wet road, highway patrolman Shane Zehnder said. The truck went off the road and into a soft ground along the highway. The difference in height between the road and the ground caused the truck to roll back onto Ohio 2. “He got onto the lip and I believe his load shifted and caused him to dump over to his left side,” Zehnder said. There were minor injuries and no one was taken to the hospital. The driver was cited for failure to control. Officers closed the ramp and directed the traffic to Ohio 269 to Ohio 101 while road crews cleared the lanes.

The left lane was re-opened for motorists at roughly 11 a.m. The right lane remained closed slightly longer but later reopened.
