A Mississippi woman was injured on Wednesday afternoon in a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 81 in Wythe County. According to Virginia State Police Sgt. T.H. Dalton, the woman — a passenger in the tractor-trailer — was airlifted from the scene near the 82.1 mile marker. Also from Tylertown, Mississippi, the male driver wasn’t injured. Dalton said the driver was southbound on I-81 when he ran off the left side of the roadway, traveled through the guardrail and struck an embankment in the median. Police got the call at 2:48 p.m. Trooper Greg Purvis is investigating the wreck.
