Video: One killed in collision north of Poulsbo

One person was killed and two were injured in a head-on collision north of Poulsbo early Tuesday, according to Washington State Patrol. The collision was reported at about 6:30 a.m. on Highway 3 near Lofall Road, between Poulsbo and the Hood Canal Bridge, according to WSP. Douglas D. Ranney, 65, of Port Angeles, was driving north in a white utility van.   The van crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a semi-truck coming the other direction. Ranney died at the scene. The crash pushed the van back across the centerline and into the northbound lane, where it collided with a Hyundai Elantra.   The semi truck driver, a 32-year-old Bonney Lake man, and the driver of the Elantra, a 56-year-old Bremerton man, were treated for minor injuries and released. According to WSP, Ranney was not wearing a seatbelt.


Update – The fatality involved a male driving a white panel van and he was pronounced deceased on scene. The male driver of the large work truck was treated for minor injuries, and released on scene. A third male, who was driving a small passenger car also involved in the collision, was treated for minor injuries and released on scene.
