Newly released footage from the Ohio State Highway Patrol shows an intoxicated semi-truck driver passing through Belmont County. The OSHP is using the incident as a warning to drivers ahead of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The video shows first-hand just how dangerous impaired driving is. This instance involved a speeding, swerving semi and its intoxicated driver.
“The St. Clairsville dispatch center received multiple calls of a tractor trailer that was traveling eastbound on I-70 and the report was that he was all over the road,” explained Lt. James Faunda of the OSHP.
“When the trooper arrived, and actually located the semi, it was literally shoulder to shoulder going down I-70 approaching Bridgeport. “The trooper had to actually get in front of the semi to slow him down and to get his attention to get him to pull over and stop. That particular driver was more than twice the legal limit for alcohol.” Artur Timofeyev, of Michigan, was arrested and booked into jail on charges of driving under the influence and in marked lanes. The driver remains behind bars in Belmont County on a $20,000 bond.
