Semi-truck plunges from overpass, killing driver

A semi-truck driver was killed Monday morning when the truck went off an Interstate 84 overpass near Burley, according to Idaho State Police. Police responded to the crash at milepost 211 around 6:30 a.m. The commercial vehicle was westbound on I-84 when it went off the roadway, through the guardrail of the overpass, and landed on the lanes of State Highway 24, police said. The truck crashed into a GMC pickup driven by Gregory Grove, 63, of Albion. The driver of the semi succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said. Police are withholding the driver’s name while family is notified. Grove did not require hospitalization. I-84 was still reduced to one lane as of 2:15 p.m. Monday, and SH-24 was blocked for roughly two hours while crews cleared the scene. Idaho State Police is investigating the crash. On Monday, police weren’t sure if the drivers involved were wearing seatbelts.
