Thousands of Kenworth trucks have been recalled for a defect that could result in engine failure or a crash. PACCAR Incorporated has issued a recall for 11,429 Kenworth trucks manufactured between 2016 and 2019. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall notice, “the engine harnesses may have been manufactured without check engine light (CEL) and stop engine light (SEL) circuits, preventing the driver from being warned of a serious engine problem.” The recall notice states that if the driver is not warned about serious engine problems, it could result in engine failure and a crash.

The recall is expected to begin on October 19, 2018. PACCAR will reach out and notify owners. and it will “inspect or test the ISX15 engine harness, and install an overlay jumper harness to supply the missing CEL and SEL circuits, free of charge.” If you have questions about the recall, you can call PACCAR customer service at 1-918-259-3258.
