Teen girl cuts off semi truck, sending it hurtling into deli

Five people were hurt today when a teenage driver turned in front of an oncoming semi truck, sending it crashing into a New Jersey deli. The incident happened around 12:30 p.m in Jackson Township, New Jersey.

Jackson police say that a seventeen year old girl driving on north on Route 527 attempted to turn left. A truck driver traveling south on Route 527 slammed on his brakes to try to avoid hitting the teen’s car.

The truck collided with the car in spite of the driver’s efforts to avoid the crash and then smashed into the Glory’s Market building, tearing down a large chunk of wall.

ABC6 reports that a cashier at the market saw the truck coming and yelled for others to “run!” At least four people were injured, one of them critically. The truck driver and the teen girl both suffered minor injuries.

It isn’t clear at this time whether either driver will be ticketed.
