Parowan man crashes semi, arrested for impairment in Iron County

IRON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man from Parowan was arrested last week for impaired driving after he crashed the semi-truck he was driving on SR-130 near Enoch, according to St. George News.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Street told St. George News they were called at about 10 p.m. to a rollover involving a semitractor-trailer hauling a load of hay on a flat-bed trailer nar Gape Road on SR-130.  When troopers arrived, the semi was on its side and the trailer had disconnected and was nearby.

 

Hay was scattered all over the side of the highway. Preliminary investigation shows the driver, identified as Cody Otis Parkinson, failed to negotiate a curve in the road and drifted off the roadway and overturned. Parkinson received minor injuries. In speaking with troopers, they suspected impairment. Troopers said Parkinson fought with them and struggled while be placed under arrest. Parkinson was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Iron County Jail on charges of DUI and resisting arrest.
