According to PIO for the Delta Fire Brandon Vaccaro, the Delta Fire has exploded to more than 5,000 acres and is zero percent contained. Throughout the night, hand crews and engine crews will continue to build fire lines. There will be no air attack overnight as conditions don’t allow it. 600+ personnel are working on the fire.
Evacuations remain from Vollmers to Gibson. I-5 is still closed from the Fawndale exit to the Mott exit. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has issued evacuation warnings for the Dunsmuir area. This is just an advisory. Residents in Dunsmuir should prepare in case of evacuation orders. The school was evacuated Tuesday safely. The Delta Fire is at 2,000 acres and 600 personnel are currently assigned to the fire. Northbound I-5 has been closed at Fawndale Road and southbound has been closed at Mott Road due to a fire burning on both sides of the highway.
Officials said everyone north of Vollmers/Delta to the Siskiyou County line are being evacuated. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said the fire is burning so badly on both sides of I-5 that they’ve requested assistance from Siskiyou County.
