One male was transported to CHI Health St. Francis with critical injuries following an accident between a car and a semi Monday. Grand Island Fire Department Shift Commander Scott Kuehl said the accident occurred at about 10:50 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 30 and Shady Bend Road. He said a gray Peterbilt semi hit a blue vehicle on the passenger side, causing the vehicle to go into the ditch. Kuehl said the accident is still under investigation and fault and cause of the accident are yet to be determined. He added the driver of the car was the one transported with critical injuries and that the semi driver was transported to St. Francis with non-life-threatening injuries. Kuehl said the driver of the car was unconscious when the Fire Department arrived on scene. His name is not being released at this time.
