Multiple large accidents have been reported along Interstate 44 resulting in fatalities and leaving many people in need of assistance.
Mile Marker 106
The Conway Volunteer Fire Department reported a large accident along I-44 near mile marker 106 with possibly 40 people in need of assistance. Marshfield Fire is assisting, according to a Conway Volunteer Fire Department Facebook post.MoDOT announced in a traffic alert that cleanup could take up to 12 hours, as of about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. All traffic is being diverted at mile marker 100, according to a MoDOT press release. Detoured traffic will use Route 38 to Route CC, to Conway, then back to I-44 at mile marker 113. MoDOT crews are plowing and treating the detour route. Missouri State Highway Patrol said between 50 and 100 cars have been involved in large accidents near mile marker 106 outside Marshfield, Missouri. One fatality was confirmed and the scene is still active.
Mile Marker 110
Another large accident at mile marker 110 has multiple people trapped in their vehicles according to the Conway department’s post.
Mile Marker 119
The department also reported an accident near mile marker 119 on I-44.The Conway department reported that a Marshfield fire engine was hit by a semi-truck. It is unclear which accident this occurred in.The department reported over 10 EMS units have been requested. School buses have also been requested to transport people in need of assistance at the accidents.
Accidents have also been reported in Rolla, Missouri according to the Rolla Rural Fire Protection District and Missouri State Highway Patrol.Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District posted to Facebook declaring one accident in Rolla on I-44, near mile marker 186, a mass casualty accident. Missouri State Highway Patrol posted on Facebook at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday that the crash involved 30 vehicles and resulted in approximately 11 injuries. No fatalities have been reported.MoDOT for Southwest Missouri posted on Facebook that eastbound lanes of I-44 are closed in the area.
Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed one fatality in a 12-vehicle crash on I-44 near mile marker 138 in a Facebook post Sunday.The post also announced that eastbound lanes at mile marker 138 are closed due to the same accident.
