Portland Police say two people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a semi-truck driver Friday morning.
The crash was reported in the 500 block of NE Columbia Boulevard around 4:50 a.m.
The semi-truck driver struck the pedestrians in a westbound lane of traffic. Immediately after, the driver of a Nissan Sentra crashed into a fire hydrant in an attempt to avoid the crash. That driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck is cooperating with police.
Portland Police have closed NE Columbia Boulevard from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to NE 11th Avenue. It’s expected to reopen after 9 a.m.
