The driver of a commercial transport truck is in hospital after high winds caused his vehicle and rig to flip over. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Dixie Road and Steeles Avenue East. The male driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The intersection will remain closed into Wednesday evening so crews can remove the damaged rig.

Peel Regional Police say the “high winds” caused the vehicle to flip onto its side. The incident was one of many weather-related events in Brampton Wednesday as ferocious winds uprooted trees and damaged homes.
