A TRUCK driver is in hospital after rolling his vehicle loaded with glass bottles in the Adelaide Hills.

The accident occurred at Birdwood just before 1pm as the truck drove along Warren Rd.

The truck was wedged against a guardrail after coming off the road and flipping.

The driver was initially trapped but has since been freed from the stricken vehicle.

He has been taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment on a laceration to the back of his head.

Warren Rd is closed between Dickers Rd and Forreston Rd while workers from the Department for Planning Transport and Infrastructure assist the MFS in the clean up.

A heavy vehicle towing business has been called to the scene to help right the truck and remove it from the roadside.
