An Illinois judge has ordered a continuance in a high profile court case involving a truck driver who is accused of breaking out as many as 45 car windows with a slingshot on I-74. Fifty-three year old truck driver Kevin Lee Casey appeared in court in Urbana, Illinois, this week for what was expected to be a negotiated plea deal, but the judge ordered a continuance to December 17, 2018, according to the News-Gazette.
BREAKING: Troopers say anyone with information needs to call 911 immediately.
Casey was arrested and charged in June with two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of criminal damage for allegedly using a slingshot and ball bearings to shatter car windows. He was actually caught in the act of using a slingshot to shoot out the driver’s side window of a minivan that was eastbound on I-74 when police were attempting to serve his arrest warrant.

A three year old child was injured by broken glass during one of the incidents. According to court documents, ““A majority of the incidents occurred on Wednesdays and Fridays. Victims reported their vehicles were damaged while traveling westbound on I-74 for a majority of the Wednesday incidents. For the incidents occurring on Fridays, the majority were traveling eastbound when their vehicle was damaged. The majority were driving minivans.” Casey is only charged in three incidents, but investigators say that there were approximately 45 similar incidents that occurred on I-74 between March and June when Casey was arrested.
